In the middle of a text,
as a response,
a simple <smiley face> emoticon.

I paused,
as this was a feeling,
in the midst of thoughts,
sent invisibly to the heart.

People can have different views,
when words are shared.
An emoji means something more.

We toss around thoughtless words,
all day,
so that we may move through life.

Then the rarity of harmonious emotions,
gets shared,
via a little yellow smiley face.
Now there’s a reason to perk up!

We learn pictures when we’re young.
Colorful,
simple images,
that teach us how to connect.
